Gaga and Bennett originally recorded a version of “The Lady Is a Tramp” for the crooner’s 2011 Duets II album. They discussed making a duets record together, and started recording in spring 2013.
The two taped a PBS Great Performances special, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek Live!, at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center earlier this week, which will air later this fall.
NBC’s The Today Show showed a segment the two recorded last month at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, N.Y., where they talked to students about pursuing their dreams of a career in the arts, then sat down for a Q&A session, opening up about their relationship and making it in the record business. The segment aired again Wednesday morning and can be seen below.

“My first reaction to her is that she’s going to bigger than Elvis Presley. She’s going to be around forever because she’s so bright, she’s so intellectual about things,” Bennett said of Gaga. “Anything she wears is beautiful.”
“If this is what you want. If music’s what you want, or acting, or visual arts, I would say put your head down and play. Don’t look in that rearview mirror,” Gaga said to the students in the audience.
